Film Review:

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1        (             )         by Bri Voyton

Minor Spoilers Ahead!

I recently saw The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, and I can now absolutely reccomend it as a must-see. It’s thought-provoking, touching, and guaranteed to stir up emotions. However, it might be important to catch up on other films in the series beforehand .

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is about a teenaged girl named Katniss Everdeen who lives in a dystopian society. After escaping the Quarterquell in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, she has now learned that her home, along with the entirety of District 12, has been destroyed. We watch Katniss as struggles to face the dark circumstances that define this grim dystopian future. Katniss desperately wants to rescue her partner and dear friend, Peeta Mellark, from the ruling Capitol. To accomplish this goal, she joins the anti-Capital resistance in District 13. Katniss faces numerous obstacles, but she is determined, resilient, and strong. You will be on the verge of tears as you watch Katniss fight her demons, as well as the Capitol, in this face-paced film.

The movie has some truly breath-taking moments, and you will feel inspired, shocked, sad, and amazed by this story. This captivating movie will leave you wanting more as it ends with a spellbinding cliffhanger. You’ll be waiting with the rest of us for the final installment.
