Jessie Fauconier, a student here at Mount, has recently been recognized by Buzz Aldrin and the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists for her passion for STEM and her ambition to make advances in this field. She has been chosen to attend the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders this summer.

Mount Pleasant Drop-Off wins the 2014-2015 Project Citizen Competition! “We thought that the drop off at Mount in the morning is dangerous,” explains one of the group’s member, Circe D’Ambrosio, “so, we decided to come up with a plan to smooth it out.” The group’s solution was to put a road diet on Washington Street Extension to limit the amount of traffic in the morning.

Mount Pleasant High School’s chapter of the Spanish National Honor Society has undertaken a unique project: Building a butterfly garden. Spanish teacher and Spanish NHS advisor, Mrs. Rimmer, was inspired to start the butterfly garden after visiting a butterfly refuge in Costa Rica.

        The annual Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire was quite the enjoyable event. The Mount Pleasant Early Music Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Brian Drumbore, had the opportunity to perform there, and explore all of the excitement it had to offer. Our group arrived in time to perform in the Madrigal competition, which is a Renaissance genre of music. We had our recorders and krummhorns, and we performed Belle qui tiens ma vie by Thoinot Arbeau. We placed sixth out of the dozens and dozens of other performing high schools. 

        After much anticipation, Taylor’s Swift’s long awaited new single “Out of the Woods” was released on Monday, October 13th, at midnight. A pop song defined by its synthesized beats, the track clearly shows Swift’s transition from country singer to pure pop artist. Swift describes her song as the anxiety she felt over a fragile relationship. "This was a relationship where I was kind of, living day to day, wondering where it was going, if it was going to go anywhere, if it was going to end the next day," she said. This song was a huge success with Swift’s fans and has already soared to No. 1 on Billboard’s pop charts. Swift’s complete album “1989” was released on October 27th.
